Clemons Pours in 24 as Pioneers Fall to McHenry

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. --- Typically, when a team wins the turnover battle, the final result on the scoreboard tends to go in its favor as well.
 
Unfortunately, this wasn't the case for the Prairie State men's basketball team Tuesday night as it dropped a tough Illinois Skyway conference road skirmish with McHenry, 85-76.
 
The setback lowered PSC's overall record to 9-14 with a 2-5 mark in Skyway play.
 
Prairie State committed 10 turnovers to McHenry's 15.
 
The Pioneers were paced by freshman forward Ryan Clemons (Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.)  who tallied a career-high 24 points on 9-of18 shooting from the field.  The 6-foot-3 Clemons also drained a trio of three pointers and went 3-of-4 from the free throw line.  He also snagged eight rebounds and made off with a quartet of steals.
 
Sophomore forward Victor Brown (Rich Township H.S.) delivered a double-double, recording 16 points while pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds.
 
Freshman guard Darien Green (Christ the King College Prep) chipped in 13 points.
 
Freshman guard Jordan Davis (Kankakee H.S.), (11 points) and freshman point guard Javery Johnson (Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.), (10 points) both aided the Pioneers' cause.
 
Prairie State was without the services of leading scorer Xavier Sulaiman (Oak Lawn H.S.) who was sidelined with a lower-body injury.
 
PSC trailed 48-39 at the break and was out-rebounded 44-30 for the contest.
 
The Pioneers will see action next on Thursday when they travel to Elgin for their second meeting of the conference slate with the Spartans (7:15 p.m.).
