Pioneers Blank DuPage at Home For 30th Straight Triumph Over Region 4 Opponents

PARK FOREST, Ill. --- Throughout its storied history, the Prairie State men's tennis team has reached its share of milestones.

Friday afternoon at the Park Forest Tennis Club, it reached yet another.

Following a 9-0 victory over DuPage, the Pioneers locked down their 30^th consecutive triumph over an NJCAA Region 4 opponent. More impressively, 29 of those wins have come via a 9-0 final score.

The win pushed PSC, the 18^th ranked team in the ITA junior college rankings, to 4-2 on the campaign.

On the doubles side, the Pioneers top tandem of sophomores Jonathan Hii (Chalres LaTrobe p-12 College, AUSTRALIA) and Yoog Gundani (Mansfield State H.S., AUSTRALIA) were victorious by an 8-2 final.

PSC's second doubles team of sophomore Ben Lawrie (Cabra Dominican College, AUSTRALIA) and freshman Fergus Larkin (Seaton H.S., AUSTRALIA) won 8-0 as did the No. 3 pairing of sophomore Tendai Chihowa (Princeton Institute, ZIMBABWE) and freshman Marco Brkovic (Applewood Heights Secondary, CANADA).

In singles play, PSC's no.1, Gundani triumphed 6-0, 6-4 while Chihowa claimed his match 8-0 at no. 2.

Brkovic won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles while Lawrie was victorious by the same score at no. 4.

Larkin bested his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles as Hii won at no. 6 by the same score.

The Pioneers will see action next on Tuesday when they host Lake County at home in a 2:45 first-serve.
