Deandre Gilmore

Former collegiate outfielder, Deandre Gilmore, will embark upon his third season at the helm of PSC's baseball program in 2026.

Gilmore, who had served as an assistant coach on Pascual Santiago's staff for four seasons, was elevated to head coach during the summer of 2023 following Santiago's retirement.

During his time with the Pioneers, Gilmore has been instrumental in the development of several young hitters and outfielders within the program.

During GIlmore's first two campaigns piloting the program, the native of northwest Indiana has made a substantial impact.

The 2025 season marked a serious step forward in bringing PSC baseball back to glory.

Gilmore's 2025 Pioneers won 25 games for the first time since 2014 while also making their first post season appearance in 11 years.

Two of Gilmore's starting pitchers (Alvin Velasquez and Jose Chacin) both hurled no-hitters during the campaign as well. The no-no's were the first by a PSC pitcher since former Pioneer and Bradley University standout Nick Gross accomplished the feat in 2010.

Gilmore's contributions to the program have also gone beyond wins and losses.  He has overseen several upgrades and improvements to the program's facility as well.  New windscreens, batting cage improvements and dugout renovations can also be credited to Gilmore's efforts.

Gilmore, who was originally recruited by Chicago State University but transferred following a coaching change, played four seasons at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind.

A fine hitter and outfield defender in his own right, Gilmore was also a standout multisport athlete on the prep level, starring on both the gird iron and diamond.  A product of Gavit High School in Hammond, Ind., Gilmore made an impact as both a running back on the football team and right fielder on the baseball squad from 2008-11.  For his baseball efforts, Gilmore was selected to the All-Great Lakes Conference First Team in both his junior and senior seasons.  He hit north of .400 in both of those campaigns.

Gilmore's coaching resume is also robust.

An instructor at All Aspects Baseball and Softball Academy in South Chicago Heights, Gilmore has developed a strong reputation as a teacher of proper hitting fundamentals.  He also earned his first manager's post in 2021, skippering the Midwest Minutemen of the Midwest Collegiate League.

Gilmore's work with the Minutemen earned him the manager's seat with the Chicago Giants of the Midwest League for 2022.  Last season, the Giants claimed nearly every award the league had to offer and landed eight players on the circuit's all-star team.  The Midwest League was recently rebranded as the Northern League.  The new Northern League will now serve as a "pre-professional baseball" loop, giving Gilmore the opportunity to manage not only current college players, but also post-collegiate as well as players with limited service time in professional baseball.

Gilmore also serves as the Sports Manager at Sparta Dome in Crown Point, Indiana as well as an attendant in the PSC Fitness Center.
