Allan Scarabello brings a wealth of experience in athletics.
Scarabello is in his third full season as Prairie State’s sports information director. He’s spearheaded the media efforts for men’s soccer most recent trips to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. The Pioneers finished fifth in the final poll.
Scarabello comes to us after two years at Joliet Junior College where he learned the ropes of Junior College Athletics. Prior to that, Scarabello worked at NCAA schools in various levels including one year at Northwestern Oklahoma State where the school transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. He also interned at NCAA Division I schools Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Eastern Illinois University. Lastly, Allan spent a year as an intern at Newberry College (S.C.).
He also brings an excellent journalism background having worked at The Daily Journal in Kankakee for a handful of years in multiple roles including interim editor.
Scarabello has volunteered at a lot of special events including the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four, 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Final Four and the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament (First Four).
Scarabello earned a Master’s in Kinesiology and Sports Studies (Sports Administration emphasis) from Eastern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s in Journalism from Northern Illinois University.
