PALATINE, IL - Prairie State needed a win badly and played a solid game on Thursday to get it.
The Pioneers broke a seven-game losing streak with an 83-27 victory at Harper.
Kimani Thornton had a career-high 28 points while
Riley Gaynor added 20 points.
The Pioneers were stout defensively holding Harper to only four points in the first quarter and did not allow the Hawks to score 10 points in any single quarter. Prairie State had 27 steals.
Kierra Reeves led the Pioneers (4-10) with eight. Thornton added seven while Gaynor and
Jailyn Lumpkin each had five. Reeves also added three blocks.
Reeves' 14 rebounds were tops on Prairie State while Lumpkin (10) also reached double digits.
The Pioneers will play at the Lake Land Tournament next weekend.
