SUGAR GROVE, IL --- Prairie State opened Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference play with a loss at Waubonsee on Wednesday. The Pioneers fell 25-17, 25-12 and 25-11.

Prairie State (2-3, 0-1) put up a valiant effort in the first set before falling short. The Pioneers were led in kills by Geonna Wright who had four. She also added a team-high three blocks. 

Emily Stein led the way with 12 digs while Kimani Thornton added eleven. Eyvette Webb also reached double digits with 10 digs.

Prairie State will play at Elgin on Wednesday.
