Box Score 2 JOLIET, IL - It was a tale of two games for Prairie State on Saturday.
The Pioneers squared off against College of DuPage and Joliet Junior College at JJC on Saturday. The Pioneers struggled in the opener dropping a 21-8 decision to College of DuPage but bounced back for a 10-7 win against the Wolves.
College of DuPage 21, Prairie State 8 (6 inn.)
Prairie State hit the ball well, but had two bad innings. College of DuPage scored seven runs in the third inning and 11 runs in the sixth which put the game away.
Anamaree Ramirez had a perfect 4 for 4 day.
Shaelynn Svoboda,
Bethany Adney and
Pam Muth each had three hits while
Brooke Dusseau and
Angelena Green had two hits apiece.
Prairie State 10, Joliet Junior College 7
Svoboda helped the Pioneers recover with a solid performance in the circle. She gave up seven earned runs but got the outs in the game's crucial moments including a strikeout to put JJC's three-run sixth to a halt.
Svoboda had a huge hit in the game as well. Her bases clearing double got the party started in a five-run second inning. The Pioneers (2-2) never gave up the lead adding three more runs in the fourth inning.
Hannah Bilinski hit a solo homer to give Prairie State an insurance run. Muth and
Kristina Adney each had three hits in the game. Ramirez and
Bethany Adney had two hits apiece.
The Pioneers will attempt to avenge their loss against the College of DuPage with a home doubleheader on Wednesday.
