Servin and Koeppen’s Big Days Not Enough as Morton Sweeps PSC

CICERO, Ill. --- Despite a career day from freshman shortstop Evalyn Servin (Bloom H.S.) the Prairie State softball team was unable to garner a win Wednesday falling to Illinois Skyway Conference counterpart Morton.
 
The Pioneers dropped the twin bill by final tallies of 14-8 and 9-1.
 
The setbacks dropped PSC's overall record to 1-21 with a 1-7 mark in league play.
 
Servin went 4-for-4 in Game 1 with a pair of runs and an RBI before going 1-for-2 in the nightcap.
 
Servin wasn't the only Pioneer to swing a strong bat either as freshman Maeve Koeppen (Lake Central H.S.) went 2-for-4 with both a pair of runs and RBI in Game 1.  Koeppen also blasted a two-run homer in the opener.
 
She also went 1-for-3 with a double in the nightcap.
 
Freshmen Terah Coiley (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.), (2-for-4, run) and Ailani Chavez (Bloom H.S.), (2-for-4, RBI) also aided the Pioneers' cause.
 
  Freshman Madison Bullaro (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) recorded two hits in the nightcap. 
 
PSC will see action next on Friday when they host Joliet at the Pioneer Sports Complex (3 p.m.).
