CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - Prairie State fell behind early and never recovered against rival South Suburban.
The Pioneers surrendered seven runs in the first inning in a 16-6 loss in eight innings on Wednesday.
Prairie State was able to play mostly even with the Bulldogs after the first inning but couldn't mount the comeback.
Alex Perez led the Pioneers (1-17) with two hits. Xavier Deluna and
Gabe Cortez each had two RBIs.
Justin Supergan took the loss on the hill for Prairie State but settled in nicely after a rocky first inning. He surrendered six earned runs in his 6 2/3 innings of work.
The Pioneers will play at Kankakee Community College on Friday.
