Box Score 2 FREEPORT, IL - Prairie State finished its season with a doubleheader at Highland on Saturday.
The Pioneers played tight in both games but were unable to pick up wins.
Highland 5, Prairie State 4 (9 inn.)
Chasen Lewis drove in the go-ahead run with a groundout in the top of the ninth inning before Prairie State surrendered two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
The Pioneers (4-39) took the lead in the first inning when
Isaiah Gaines drove in the first run of the game with a double.
Devin Smith plated the second run with a sacrifice fly.

Prairie State's pitching staff did a solid job as
Gabe Cortez threw five innings giving up only two earned runs while striking out four. Gaines went the rest of the way and picked up the tough luck loss. Gaines struck out six in 3 1/3 innings of work.

Ethen Otstott pitched a solid game giving up only one earned run in five innings of work while striking out five.
Justin Supergan threw a scoreless inning
Highland took a 4-0 lead into the seventh before the Pioneers rally fell short.
Jimmy Boylan singled with two outs sending
Leo Romero to third. Romero scored on a passed ball while Boylan went to second.
Felipe Martinez eventually drove in Boylan with a single to get within two. Prairie State was unable to complete the comeback in the season's final game.
