Pioneers Take Kankakee To the Wire, Fall in End

KANKAKEE, Ill. --- Despite jumping out to a 6-0 lead, the Prairie State baseball team was unable to hang on and register a win against one of NJCAA Region 4's best programs, falling 7-6 to Kankakee Wednesday afternoon.
 
With the setback, the Pioneers saw their season record dip to 23-18 overall.
 
Three PSC hitters recorded multiple hit outings led by sophomore first baseman Felix Arias (The Vine Christian Academy) who went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.  He also cracked a two-run double in the third inning.
 
Freshman shortstop Nino Borges (Colegio C.K. H.S., BRAZIL) went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
 
Freshman left fielder Isaiah Spann (John Curtis H.S.) went 2-for-5 with two runs.
 
PSC used a four-run third frame t post the 6-0 advantage.  The big inning was highlighted by Arias' two-bagger and an RBI double down the left field line by freshman catcher Juan Pinuelas (Goliath Academy, MEXICO).
 
KCC used a three-run seventh, two-run eighth and single-tally ninth to pull out the victory.
 
The Pioneers will see action next on Friday when they travel to Palatine for a road date with Region 4 counterpart Harper (2 p.m.).
