Pioneers On Brink of First Postseason Berth in 11 Years

Wednesday Win Over DuPage Pulls PSC One Step Closer to Region 4 Playoffs

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. --- All throughout the 2025 campaign there has been a recurring phrase uttered around the Prairie State Athletic Department regarding the college's baseball team.
 
"It's the first time since …"
 
A no-hitter?  First time since 2010.
 
A twenty-win season?  First time since 2014.
 
First time in legitimate playoff contention?  You guessed it; first time since 2014.
 
Thanks to a down-to-the-wire 10-9 triumph over NJCAA Region 4 counterpart DuPage, PSC now finds itself on the precipice of qualifying for the postseason for the first time in over a decade.
 
The win pushed the Pioneers' overall record to 24-23.
 
If the season ended Wednesday, the Pioneers would be in possession of a playoff spot.  Winning their remaining two games will guarantee a postseason berth.
 
Leading the charge for PSC on the offensive side Wednesday was sophomore center fielder Nathan Odaira (C.K. Calegio, BRAZIL) who went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.  He also stole a base.
 
Sophomore first baseman Logan Tokarz (Oak Forest H.S.) produced a 3-for-5 day with three RBI as well.
 
Sophomore designated hitter Felix Arias (The Vine Christian Academy) went 2-for-5 with a double.
 
Freshman closer Pedro Pinto came on in the ninth and locked down his school record-breaking 11th save.  He leads the nation in that category.
 
The Pioneers will see action next on Saturday when they travel to Milwaukee Tech (12 p.m.).
