Pioneers Hang Tough, Fall in End to Lake County

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Despite holding a 40-37 halftime advantage, the Prairie State women's basketball team was unable to garner a win Tuesday night, dropping its Illinois Skyway Conference matchup with Lake County 81-71 at the PSC Fieldhouse.
 
The setback dipped the Pioneers' overall mark to 5-14 with a 1-4 record in Skyway play.
 
Despite the loss, PSC did pick up several strong individual efforts.
 
Freshman guard Chanteze Holland (Morton Senior H.S.) set the pace with a 20-point, five-rebound, four assists outing.  The 5-foot-6 Holland shot 9-of-17 from the floor (two 3-pointers).
 
Fellow freshman guard Mackenzie Hamer  (Bishop Noll Institute) deposited 15 points and handed out six assists.  She also made off with three steals.
 
Sophomore point guard Alyssa Quinones (Whiting H.S.) tallied 14 points while pulling down five rebounds and dishing out five assists.
 
Freshman forward Quin Fehr (Bishop Noll Institute) ,(11 points, 6 rebounds) and freshman forward Renasia Adams (Hillcrest H.S.), (11 points, 7 rebounds, block, steal) also aided the Pioneers' cause.
 
The Lancers pulled the game out thanks in part to a 22-13 fourth quarter.
 
The Pioneers will see action next on Thursday when they travel to Palos Hills for a road date against league foe Moraine Valley (5:15 p.m.).
