Michael Denton brought a robust resume with over 30 years of coaching experience with him when he joined head coach Pascual Santiago's staff in 2020.
Denton began his coaching career in 1990 with the Chicago Clippers of the Skyscraper Baseball League hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago.
At the time, the league was widely considered as one of the top amateur leagues in the Midwest.
Denton has also coached at various levels in the communities of Matteson (1997-98), Tinley Park (1999 & 2014) and Country Club Hills, IL (2000-2015).
He has also held coaching posts in high school travel baseball (2016-2017) and collegiate summer teams in the Southwest Chicago Inter-League Association (SWILA) (2018-2019).
The past two summers Denton has been an assistant coach for the Mid-Crest Pumas of the Chicago Suburban Baseball League (CSBL). The Pumas were the Skyscraper Baseball Tournament champions in 2020 & 2021 and also participated in the National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF) Major Division Regional Tournament in 2021. The Pumas concluded their 2021 season by participating in the 87th National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kansas.
Denton, a native of Hazel Crest, Ill., is a 1985 graduate of Hillcrest High School where he played baseball for the Hawks.
Denton earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois. While in Champaign, he was also a member of the Illini bowling team.
Denton has completed the USA Baseball Coaches Certification levels “A”, “B”, and “C”, the Umpire Certification and the Pure Baseball Compliant certification. He is also a Certified Baseball Coach through Babe Ruth Baseball.
He is also a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago.
A Certified Public Accountant, Denton, who's son Mike pitched for the Pioneers from 2019-2021 and is now a member of the Rosemont College baseball team, resides in Country Club Hills.
