Prairie State Captures First Region IV Championship in Program History

Box Score CHICAGO HEIGHTS - Prairie State has continued to pile up accolades. Saturday's Region IV championship match against Morton was no exception.

After a foul in the box, Pioneer defender Adrian Duda blasted a laser into the back of the net on the penalty kick. Prairie State fought off the Morton attack for the rest of the game for a 1-0 victory to capture the program's first-ever Region IV championship.

With the win, Prairie State will host the Northeast District Tournament where it will square off with the Region III winner. The winner of that game will play the Region XII winner on Saturday at Prairie State.

The Pioneers (17-3-1) won their 13th consecutive game and haven't lost since Sept. 8 to Marshalltown (Iowa).

Prairie State had several good scoring opportunities but was never able to put away the insurance goal. Goalkeepers Ryan Cayton and Jose Salgado were excellent combining for seven saves.

Andres Osorio was named the Most Valuable Player in the Region IV Tournament while coach Carlos Reyes was named Coach of the Year.
