HOMEWOOD, IL - Prairie State split four matches on Sunday. The Pioneers defeated Hamline University and Millikin University but fell to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Hanover University. The Pioneers played Millikin and Hanover at home and went to Wisconsin to play Eau Claire and Hamline.
Prairie State 9, Hamline 0
The Pioneers made quick work of Hamline sweeping all nine matches with relative ease.
Marek Slojewski (No. 1 singles) cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Victor Dieltiens (No. 2) and Hesley Forbes each had straight set wins.
Ulises Barrades (No. 4) didn't lose a game in his victory.
Tai Harrell (No. 5) took home a three-set victory while
Panashe Garah won by forfeit.
Slojewski and Dieltiens (No. 1 doubles) continued their dominance with an 8-3 win and Forbes and Garah (No. 2) doubles never let the outcome be in doubt in an 8-2 victory.
Prairie State 5, Millikin 4
Nehemiah Molla (No. 2 singles) defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2 while
Richard Ngwarwi (No. 3) won his match with an identical score.
Jedrzej Brodzki (No. 4) and
Miguel Ferreira (No. 5) each needed three sets to finish off their Millikin opponent. Brodzki and Ngwarwi (No. 2 doubles) edged out an 8-6 win in doubles while Ferreira and
Jibril Dean (No. 3) picked up a crucial 8-4 win.
Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8, Prairie State 1
Garah (No. 2) picked up an impressive 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 victory. The Pioneers played tough but were unable to scratch out any other wins.
Hanover 5, Prairie State 4
Renan Kormann had an excellent match dominating at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0 and winning 6-4 with Molla in No. 1 doubles.
Brodzki needed three sets to win at No. 4 singles while Ngwarwi (No. 3) singles won 6-1 and 6-3.
