Box Score CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - Prairie State scored early and often in Saturday's Region IV quarterfinal against Kankakee.
The No. 4 Pioneers had no problems in an 11-1 victory over the Cavaliers.
The scoring started about three minutes in when
Lapo Carradori scored one of his three goals on a beautiful headed off of a corner kick by
Elian Munoz. About four minutes later Munoz scored his first of three goals in the game with an assist from
Mohamed Elshafie.
Elshafie made it 3-0 about four minutes later.
Marc Lopez got the assist on the first of Elshafie's two goals. Elshafie also scored the game's final goal around three minutes before the buzzer. Munoz scored to make it 4-0 on another assists from Elshafie, who had four assists in the contest. All-American
Antonio Leal scored the next three goals for Prairie State, who took a 7-0 lead into halftime.
Carradori scored the next two goals for Prairie State (8-0-1) before Munoz and Elshafie scored the games final two goals.
With the win, top-seeded Prairie State advances to play either fourth-seeded Triton or fifth-seeded Waubonsee in Tuesday's semifinal. The match is set for a 2:00 PM kickoff.
