CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. – "Away with the wagon."
These were Prairie State College president, Dr. Michael Anthony's words just prior to the unveiling of the Pioneers' brand new logo, August 24.
PSC athletics' longtime logo of a frontier conestoga wagon has officially been replaced by a new, sleek and modern look.
The rebranding of the athletic department has been long overdue and PSC Director of Athletics,
Joe Belcaster, is excited to have a new look ushering in a new era at the Chicago Heights school as well.
"Building the Prairie State College Athletics brand with a new logo is imperative to taking our department to the next level," Belcaster said. "The fresh look is sure to increase the visibility of our immensely talented athletes and help launch a new era of PSC Athletics.
The Pioneers' new logo now features a compass instead of the aforementioned wagon. There are also several new secondary logos, one of which is a stacked "PSC" with an outline of the state of Illinois inside the open portion of the letter P.
The college also has a new mascot, Parker the Gopher. The new mascot is a throwback to the College's original mascot, which was also a gopher, in the 1970's and 80's.
