Pioneers Fight Hard to End But Fall to Bryant & Stratton

PSC Pounds Out 16 Hits in Setback

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Despite compiling a 16-hit attack, the Prairie State baseball team was unable to garner a win Thursday, falling to NJCAA Region IV opponent Bryant and Stratton 16-14 at the Pioneer Sports Complex.
 
The setback moved PSC's record to 8-29 overall.
 
PSC jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but was unable to hang on.
 
At the plate, five Prairie State hitters recorded multiple-hit contests. 
 
Freshman center fielder Braeden Biggar (Christ the King H.S., Canada) went 3-for-3 with three runs.  He also ran down six well-struck balls on the defensive side.
 
Sophomore left fielder Tyler Brody (Beecher H.S.) went 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a run.  Sophomore first baseman Gino Gazzillo (Mount Carmel H.S.) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple as well.
 
Sophomore right fielder Luis Civico (J.P. McCaskey H.S.) swung his way to a 2-for-4, four-RBI afternoon which included a run-scoring double. 
 
Freshman shortstop Fabian Romero (Olympia H.S.) collected two hits while stealing his 28th base of the campaign.
 
Romero, who has quietly put together an outstanding season, is currently hitting .425, good for 42nd on the national charts.  His 28 swipes place him 13th nationally.
 
The Pioneers will see action next on Saturday when they take on Skyway Conference foe Lake County in a noon first pitch.
