Pioneers Fall to Lincoln Land at Home

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Despite a strong 26-point showing from sophomore guard Miracle Thomas (Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.), the Prairie State women's basketball team was unable to garner a win Saturday, falling to Lincoln Land College 67-49 at the PSC Fieldhouse.

The setback dropped the Pioneers to 7-8 overall.

Thomas scored in double figures for the 15^th time this season. Saturday's outing was her ninth of 20 or more points.

Thomas, who shot 11-of-21 from the field with four three-pointers, recorded her 800^th career point, courtesy of a drained three-pointer at the 3:43 mark of the fourth quarter. Thomas has now tallied 806 points as a Pioneer and is on pace to become the program's first 1,000-point scorer.

Thomas currently sits atop the national leader boards in both total points (6^th, 316) and points per game (16^th, 21.1).

Thomas wasn't the only Pioneer to turn in a solid outing either as freshman forward Sam Campbell (Villa Grove H.S.) delivered an 11-point, eight-block, five-rebound effort.

Sophomore guard Rachael Kapocius (Marian Catholic H.S.), (6 points, 5 rebounds) and freshman forward Rocio Perez de Guzman Basili (IES H.S., Spain), (4 points, 7 rebounds) also made solid contributions.

PSC hung with the Loggers throughout the opening quarter and headed into the second stanza trailing just 17-13. A six-point second period however told the tale of the tape as Lincoln Land tallied 21 second-quarter points.

The Pioneers did outscore the Loggers 30-29 in the second half.
