2025 Men’s Soccer Playoff Preview: Pioneers to Square Off With Longtime Nemesis

PSC and Morton to Lock Horns in NJCAA Region 4 Quarterfinal

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- The Prairie State College men's soccer team squares off Saturday against both a familiar and formidable opponent in quarterfinal action of the NJCAA Region 4 playoffs.
 
Morton College and PSC have long been storied soccer rivals and when the two teams square off at 11 a.m. on the pitch of the Pioneer Sports Complex, Prairie State head coach Carols Reyes knows the game will be both tight and intense.
 
"We have to give honor to whoever you're facing in the playoffs," Reyes said.  "All of these teams have earned this and any of them can knock each other off in any given game.  We have such a great history of playing great games against Morton, from our victory in the 2022 national championship to almost every time we've faced them.  They are well-coached have great players and are just an overall great program. Our guys are excited and will be ready as I'm sure Morton will be as well."
 
When the two teams last went head to head, it was the Pioneers who came out on top, downing the Panthers 2-1 in Chicago Heights.

Most Recent Meeting: PSC prevailed 2-1 on September 4
Most Memorable Meeting With PSC:  2022 NJCAA Division II national championship match where the Pioneers came out on top 1-0, earning PSC it's first ever national title in any sport.
2025 Leading Scorer:  Ricardo Cruz has found the back of the net 15 times.
Goalkeeping: Soultaini Salmi has made 84 stops while surrendering just 23 goals.
How They Advanced: The Panthers downed Rock Valley 5-1 in a play-in game Wednesday.
