Quintet of Double-Digit Scorers Not Enough as Southwestern Michigan College Downs PSC

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Sophomore point guard Alyssa Quinones (Whiting H.S.) tallied 15 points and three other Pioneers scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Prairie State women's basketball team fell to Southwestern Michigan College 76-55 Wednesday night at the PSC Fieldhouse.
 
The setback dropped the Pioneers' record to 0-2 on the young campaign.
 
Quinones delivered the bulk of her offensive damage at the free throw line, shooting an impressive 11-of-15 from the charity stripe.  She also snagged six rebounds, handed out a pair of assists and made off with a steal.
 
Three other Pioneers reached twin digits in the scorer's column as freshman forward Renasia Adams (Hillcrest H.S.) powered in 13 points with an impressive performance out of the low post.  She also snared six caroms, blocked a shot and made off with a steal.
 
Freshman forward Quinn Fehr (Bishop Noll Institute) and freshman guard Chanteze Holland (Morton Senior High School) each scored ten points and brought down fours rebounds.
 
The Pioneers hung tough with the Roadrunners through the first quarter, ending the period tied at 14.
 
Southwestern Michigan outpaced PSC 22-12 in the second stanza and took a 36-26 lead into the intermission. 
 
The Roadrunners effectively put the game away with a 22-7 third quarter.
 
PSC will see action next this Friday and Saturday at the Lake County Classic where they'll face Bryant and Stratton and Kishwaukee.
