BREAKTHROUGH: Pioneers Rally to Score Come From Behind Thriller

PSC Picks Up Season’s First Win With 2-1 Triumph Over Morton

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Something had to give.

The Prairie State men's soccer team knew full well that it's 2025 roster consisted of offensive potential capable of scoring and scoring at volume against any opponent .

Until Thursday however, that potentially high-octane offense had yet to show itself as PSC had been held scoreless on the season, shutout in three opportunities.

But after 325 minutes of action on the season without a goal being tallied, the offense showed up.

Sophomore forward Kais Mahdi (Lycee Louis Vincent H.S., FRANCE) broke the scoreless drought with a marker in the 55th minute as PSC went on to record a 2-1 triumph over Illinois Skyway Conference rival Morton at the Pioneer Sports Complex.

The win elevated PSC to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league action.

The victory came in come from behind fashion as the Panthers opened the scoring with a tally in the fourth minute.

After Kais' marker tied the contest, sophomore midfielder Angel Saenz (T.F. North H.S.) cut loose a rocket from 25 yards out and buried it into the back of the net, touching off a wild celebration on the far sideline.

PSC sophomore goal keeper Goncalo Tomas (Escola Secundaria Camoes H.S, PORTUGAL) made five saves in the match.

The Pioneers will take to the pitch next on Saturday when they travel to Port Huron Michigan for a road date against St. Clair (1 p.m. CDT).
