The setback dropped the Pioneers overall mark to 3-11.  Tuesday's contest was also the conference opener for both squads.

The Pioneers were led on the scoresheet by freshman guard Chanteze Holland (Morton Senior High School) and her game-high 19 points on 6-of-22 shooting from the floor.  She also recorded a double-double after snaring 11 rebounds.

Freshman guard Makenzie Hamer (Bishop Noll Institute) added 17 points and six rebounds.  She also handed out a pair of assists.

Sophomore point guard Alyssa Quinones (Whiting H.S.) stepped up with 14 tallies as well and secured four rebounds while making off with a pair of steals.

The Pioneers played the Spartans tight throughout the opening quarter and ended the stanza tied at 12.

Elgin led 20-18 at the intermission.

The Spartans still led 39-36 at the close of the third period before going on to outscore PSC 11-9 over the final five minutes.
