Box Score CHICAGO HEIGHTS - Prairie State left no doubt who was the better team during Tuesday's Region IV Semifinal.
The Pioneers scored once late in the first half and four more times in the second half to earn a decisive 5-0 victory over rival South Suburban.
The win is Prairie State's 12th consecutive win and the second win over South Suburban in the last 10 days. With the victory, the Pioneers (16-3-1) will host Morton in the Region IV Championship match which is scheduled for noon on Saturday.
Prairie State scored the first goal 38 minutes in when
Alejandro Lopez hit a beautiful cross to the middle of the box and
Rafael Garcia blasted it home. Shortly after halftime
Andres Osorio scored with an assist from
Elian Munoz. Munoz got into the scoring just over 10 minutes later when
Adrian Duda hit an outstanding free kick into the box to Lopez who headed it off the keeper. The rebound went to Munoz who finished easily.
Marc Lopez hit a corner kick to
Michael Fulop who headed home the fourth goal of the game and Osorio got his second of the day in the final 20 seconds of the match.
Prairie State defeated Morton 2-1 in the only other match of the season between the two teams.
