PALATINE, IL - Prairie State picked up its first win of the season in Palatine. 

The Pioneers scored early and often in a 12-3 victory over Harper College on Sunday. 

Gabe Cortez led the way with three hits including two triples. Keyshawn White, Evan Karasoff and Nick Swanson each had two hits for Prairie State. Devin Smith led the Pioneers (1-1) with three RBIs. 

While the offense got it done, pitcher Jimmy Rizzo was the star for Prairie State. Rizzo threw 6 2/3 innings of five hit ball. He picked up the win striking out two. Prairie State scored the game's first 11 runs in the easy victory. 

The Pioneers will travel to Joliet Junior College on Monday.
