Contreras Blasts Help Close Out Regular Season With Bang

MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- Sophomore Jesser Contreras (The Vine Christian Academy, FLORIDA) blasted a pair of long home runs, the second coming in the 11th inning, as the Prairie State baseball team downed Bryant & Stratton 12-11 Sunday afternoon. 
 
The win secured a second consecutive winning season for the Pioneers as they closed the regular slate with a 24-24 mark. 
 
Contreras' solo blast in the eleventh came on the heels of an additional solo home run in the seventh.
 
For the game, Contreras registered a 5-for-7 showing with three runs and three RBI.  He is currently hitting .380 on the season with six homers.
 
 In all, the Pioneers pounded out 19 hits on the day with four PSC hitters collecting at least two safeties apiece. 
 
Sophomore catcher Juan Pinuelas (Goliath Academy, MEXICO) went 3-for-6 with a run and two RBI while sophomore first baseman Kyle Crabtree (Lincoln-Way East H.S.) also had a three-hit day with a run and an RBI.
 
Freshman shortstop Lucas Oshikawa (Colegio Country Kids H.S., BRAZIL) went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run while freshman Alberto Araujo (Schoolhouse Prep, FLORIDA) collected a pair of safeties as well.
 
Freshman Ian Bando (Colegio Country Kids H.S., BRAZIL) went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.  The fleet-footed center fielder also put his track shoes to good use as he recorded an amazing 11 putouts in the contest.
 
Sophomore Moises Vazquez (Andrean H.S., INDIANA) also launched a solo home run.
 
Contreras' 11th-inning bomb made a winner of sophomore right-hander Bennie Goslawski (Lockport H.S.).  Goslawski threw a pair of innings and didn't allow a run or hit while walking one and striking out one.
