Box Score 2 CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - Prairie State was able to pick up its first win of the year with a 13-12 victory over Milwaukee Area Technical College in Game 1 on Thursday.
Chasen Lewis scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
Prairie State was not able to carry the momentum over to the second game in a 12-1 loss in five innings.

Lewis scored the winning run on a wild pitch, but the win was a struggle.
After falling down four runs in the first inning, the Pioneers (1-15) battled back with nine runs in the fourth to take a 12-5 lead.

Devin Smith had the big hits for Prairie State. Both players had 2-run doubles in the inning leading to the nine spot.Â
Despite the big deficit, Milwaukee battled back scoring seven times in the final two innings.Â
Gabe Cortez got his first collegiate win of the season on the mound for Prairie State. Seymour had two hits and four RBIs for Prairie State. Lewis had three hits while Smith had two for the Pioneers.Â

Milwaukee scored seven times in the third inning to put the game away.Â
Isaac Rivera drove in the only Pioneer run in the game with a single. Smith and Lewis had the other two hits for Prairie State.
Prairie State will play Roosevelt University (Peoria) on Saturday.
