Joliet Tops PSC at Home

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- The Prairie State volleyball team staged a valiant effort Monday night, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell to NJCAA Region 4 counterpart Joliet in three sets at the PSC Fieldhouse.

The Wolves topped PSC by final counts of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-15.

The setback dropped the Pioneers' overall record to 1-6.

Freshman middle hitter Keyshay Dawson (Rich South H.S.) set the pace for PSC, hammering down five kills.

Freshman setter Samantha De Laurentis (St. Laurence H.S.) handed out 12 assists.

Freshmen outside hitters Lola Eckhardt (Beecher H.S.) and Odelia Gascon (Hammond Central H.S.) each recorded three kills. Eckhardt also compiled six digs.

The Pioneers will hit the court next on Wednesday when they square off against Skyway rival Moraine Valley at the PSC Fieldhouse (6 p.m.).
