Pioneers Blanked by Waubonsee as Blemano Saves 11

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- To say that Prairie State freshman goalkeeper Priscilla Blemano (Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, CANADA) has been a key component to the Pioneers' season thus far would be an understatement and a colossal one at that.

After all, she is a keeper and that position tends to be quite important.

Blemano stopped another 11 shots in 70 minutes of action Wednesday in PSC's 4-0 loss to Illinois Skyway Conference counterpart Waubonsee at the Pioneer Sports Complex.

The setback dipped the Pioneers' record to 0-4 overall.

Blemano, outside of her 11 stops, also hustled well outside the box to clear away balls on several occasions during the course of the match.

The native of Caledon East, Ontario, currently sits second on the national saves charts for NJCAA Division II with 54 stops. Blemano also ranks second in saves in Region 4.

The Chiefs opened the scoring in the eighth minute and held the 1-0 lead through the intermission.

Waubonsee tallied again in the 50^th, the 81^st and 82^nd.

Sophomore Lily Sanchez (Argo H.S.) patrolled the area between the posts for the final 20 minutes of the match and made three saves.

The Pioneers will take the pitch next on Saturday when they square off with region opponent Joliet in a 10 a.m. road start.
