Stinchcombe-Brown’s Four Markers Help Lead Pioneers to Season’s First Victory

PALATINE, Ill. --- All season long, the Prairie State women's soccer team has been waiting for an explosion of offense like the one it saw Saturday afternoon.

Thanks in part to a four-goal effort from sophomore Shamiah Stinchcombe-Brown (York Memorial Collegiate Institute, CANADA) the Pioneers notched their first win of the season, downing NJCAA Region 4 counterpart Harper 8-0.

The triumph pushed PSC's overall record to 1-5.

Head coach Carlos Reyes made a tactical decision prior to the match, moving freshman Priscilla Blemano (Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, CANADA) out of her goalkeeper position and into a forward spot.

The decision paid big dividends by match's end.

Blemano tallied a pair of markers and also contributed assists on two of Stinchcombe-Brown's goals.

The Prairie State defense, with sophomore Lily Sanchez (Argo H.S.) in between the posts, did not surrender a shot on goal in the match.

Freshmen Keyla Avila (Bloom H.S.) and Camila Morales (Bloom H.S.) also tallied for PSC.

The Pioneers will see action next on Wednesday when they travel to Elgin for a road date with the Spartans (4 p.m.).
