Pioneers Up End Morton in Road Tilt

CICERO, Ill. --- Winning on the road in the Illinois Skyway Conference is no easy task, especially when taking on Morton College on its home floor.

The Panthers, traditionally, have always featured a packed home gym with its boisterous fan base sitting practically on top of the court. 

They provide an inhospitable environment to say the least.
 
None of this fazed the Prairie State women's basketball team Thursday night however.
 
Powered by a game-high 28 points from freshman forward Renesia Adams (Hillcrest H.S.), the Pioneers scored a 98-56 triumph over the Panthers in Cicero.
 
The win pushed Prairie State's record to 4-11 overall and 1-1 in league action.
 
Adams shot 12-of-20 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.  She also snared a game high 19 rebounds (15 on the offensive end).
 
In all, five Pioneers tallied in double figures as freshmen Chanteze Holland (Morton Senior High School) and Azariah Love (Hillcrest H.S.) each recorded 21-point outings. 
 
Four Pioneers also compiled double-doubles in the contest.
 
Love secured a double-double when she tore down 16 rebounds.  Holland also earned double-double honors with an 11-rebound effort.
 
Holland also dished out five assists. 
 
Sophomore point guard Alyssa Quinones (Whiting H.S.) added 15 points while accumulating 12 rebounds and five assists.
 
The Pioneers held a 24-18 lead at halftime before establishing a 53-31 advantage after three quarters.
 
PSC outrebounded the Panthers 62-24.
 
The Pioneers will hit the floor next on Saturday when they square off against NJCAA Region 4 counterpart Wright College at 1 p.m. in Chicago.
