One For the Ages: Pioneers’ Match With Parkland Produces Wild Finish

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- For 89 minutes Thursday afternoon, there was nothing.

Nothing in terms of scoring that is.  There was plenty of action to go around for sure.

But, as far as offensive production, the match's final minute produced one of the most dramatic an bewildering finishes imaginable.

In the end, the Prairie State men's soccer team walked away with a 1-1 draw after it felt full-well that it grabbed itself a well-earned win against Parkland.

After nearly an hour and a half of scoreless soccer, PSC's Dexter Moor (Richard Hale H.S., ENGLAND) broke the deadlock in the 89th, punching home a marker as the Pioneer bench exploded.

Moor's tally came with 50 seconds remaining in the match.

As astounding and clutch as Moor's dramatic goal was, what happened next was even more astounding.

Awarded a corner kick with 11 seconds to play, Parkland, somehow, found the back of the net with one second to play, stunning the Pioneers and their fans at Pioneer Sports Complex.

With the draw, PSC saw its overall record move to 8-3-1.

The Pioneers recorded nine shots in the tilt with five being placed on goal.

PSC freshman goalkeeper Josef Alsammour (Gymnasium Soltau H.S., GERMANY) made four saves in the match.

Prairie State will take to the pitch next on Tuesday when it hosts McHenry in an Illinois Skyway Conference matchup (4 p.m.).
