Box Score CHICAGO - Prairie State played its season opening game in February, a traditionally cold month.
However, the Pioneers bats were red hot. Unfortunately, the Olive-Harvey bats were just as hot as the Pioneers fell 15-12 on Sunday.
Prairie State trailed early but rallied for five runs in the third to take its first lead. Olive-Harvey stormed back with five runs of its own. The game went back and forth until the eighth inning when Olive-Harvey scored four times to take the lead for good.
Jake VanderWoude hit his first homer of the season. He also drove in a pair of runs.
Isaiah Gaines had two hits and two stolen bases while
Xavier Free had two RBIs for the Pioneers (0-1).
Josh Gaines swiped three bags for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers will be right back at it on Monday with a 2 P.M. contest at Joliet Junior College.
