Box Score KANKAKEE, IL - Prairie State was tied with Kankakee in the middle innings but faltered late in a 14-7 loss on Friday. 

The Cavaliers scored five in the first, but Prairie State chipped away to tie the game at fourth in the fifth and again at seven in the fifth.

Isaiah Gaines homered in the fifth inning. It was one of two hits for Gaines, who also pitched a scoreless inning. Scott Gates drove in the tying run on a double before the Cavaliers scored seven unanswered runs. 

Gates also finished with a homer, three total hits and two RBIs for Prairie State. 

Chasen Lewis, Isaac Rivera, Devin Smith and Gaines all had RBIs for the Pioneers (1-18). Lewis also swiped two bases.

Prairie State will take on Elgin in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference play on Saturday.
