Pioneers Close Out Regular Season on High Note

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Sophomore forward Morgan Rashed (Bella Vista H.S., Italy) led all scorers with 24 points and the Prairie State men's basketball team rolled to 76-63 triumph over Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference foe Oakton Saturday afternoon at the PSC Fieldhouse.

The win solidified the Pioneers' second-place finish in the Skyway and sets up a Thursday first-round NJCAA Region IV Tournament meeting with Black Hawk College (7 p.m.).  Saturday's game was the regular-season finale.

PSC enters the postseason tilt as a No. 2 seed in the tournament.

The 6-foot-7 Rashed also recorded a double-double, his sixth of the season.  Saturday's effort also marked Rashed's 22nd contest scoring in double figures and 16th straight.

Also scoring in twin figures was sophomore forward Oluyemi Elutilo (Marian Catholic H.S.),  who tallied 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.

Freshman guard Donovan Brown (Plainfield Central H.S.), (11 points, 3 three-pointers) and sophomore forward Jacques Eugene (Nova H.S.), (10 points, 3 rebounds) also made strong contributions.

The Pioneers ran out to a 38-30 advantage at halftime and never looked back.  PSC out-rebounded the Owls by a 40-29 margin and shot 31-of-61 from the field to Oakton's 24-of-61.
