Pioneers Down Kennedy-King on Road

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Paced by a 26-point outing from freshman guard Xavier Sulaiman (Oak Lawn H.S.), the Prairie State men's basketball team outlasted Kennedy-King 77-69 in Chicago's Englewood community Saturday afternoon.
 
The victory pushed PSC over the .500 threshold at 3-2.
 
Sulaiman shot 8-of-17 from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point land.  He also recorded his fourth double-double of the campaign when he ripped down 15 rebounds. 
 
Fellow freshman guard Darien Green (Christ the King College Prep) also crested the 20-point plateau, delivering 21 tallies on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor.  He also secured seven rebounds and made off with four steals. 
 
Freshman forward Orlin Nesbit (Beecher H.S.) added 12 points while freshman guard Dwayne Flowers (Chi Prep H.S.) contributed another 10.
 
The Pioneers 38-33 at the break but went on to outscore the Statesmen 44-31 over the final twenty minutes. 
 
PSC will see action next on Thursday when it hosts local foe South Suburban on "Veterans Appreciation Night" at the PSC Fieldhouse (7 p.m.).
