Pioneers Fall to Elgin on Road

ELGIN, Ill. --- Sophomore catcher Juan Pinuelas (Goliath Academy, MEXICO) continued to swing a red-hit bat, but it wasn't enough as the Prairie State baseball team dropped both ends of an Illinois Skyway Conference doubleheader with Elgin.
 
The Spartans upended PSC 10-4 and 9-4.
 
The setbacks dropped the Pioneers' record to 11-17 overall and 2-2 in league action.
 
PSC scattered five hits in the opener.
 
Coming off the heels of a 12-RBI day on Monday, Pinuelas continued his hot streak Wednesday, going 3-for-7 on the afternoon with three more RBI.
 
The 6-foot-3 Pinuelas also hammered his fourth home run of the campaign in Game 2.
 
Sophomore first baseman Kyle Crabtree (Lincoln-Way East H.S.) also launched his first home run of the season.
 
The Pioneers will be in action next on Friday when they host McHenry in a 3 p.m. start at the Pioneer Sports Complex.
